President of Tashkent State University of Law Visits
the Ministry of Government Legislation –
The Ministry of Government Legislation (MOLEG), headed by Minister Cho Won-cheol, announced that on October 31, the President of Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL) of Uzbekistan visited MOLEG to discuss ways to promote exchange and cooperation between the two institutions.
This visit was made at the request of TSUL, which established the Korean Law Research Center on February 25, 2025, with the aim of studying Korea's systematic legal framework. TSUL, located in the capital city of Tashkent, operates under the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan and has produced numerous distinguished legal experts and senior government officials.
Since signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan in 2009, MOLEG has maintained ongoing cooperation with Uzbekistan's national institutions through activities such as the visit of the MOLEG Minister to Uzbekistan in 2019 and the visit of the Uzbek Minister of Justice to Korea in 2022. Building upon these efforts, MOLEG and TSUL also discussed potential cooperation in areas including exchange of legal knowledge, joint research, and personnel exchange.
MOLEG Minister Cho Won-cheol stated: "MOLEG and Uzbekistan have long enjoyed close cooperation in the field of legislation. It is encouraging to see growing interest in Korea's legal system from outstanding universities such as Tashkent State University of Law,"
adding, "MOLEG will continue to promote active legislative exchanges with TSUL to strengthen both countries' legislative competitiveness and establish a sustainable framework for cooperation."
